FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If grain is bad for cattle, why feed it in the first place?
When cattle were first being raised for the harvesting of their meat, harvesting and storing forage was neither easy nor practical. Feeding cattle grass through the cold off-season wasn't attainable, but feeding grain year round became the easiest and most efficient way to raise cattle year round.
How does grassfed beef differ from grainfed beef?
Extensive research has been done that highlights the differences in the fat composition of the meat.
Are your animals allowed to graze?
Yes, but on a limited basis.
Young calves are given the opportunity to graze on a blend of grasses, but given the choice, they prefer to eat what we provide for them. We think this is because all forages are at the peak of their quality for only a short window of time, and therefore become undesirable very quickly.
Why is grain bad for cattle?
Grain isn't the healthiest choice for meeting cattle's nutritional requirements. Catlle are fed grain because the technology and management to harvest the forages they need did not exist until recently.
